Highlights of the 395th Meeting of Classis Hudson:
Classis Hudson met on January 17, 2013 at the Sussex CRC.
The meeting began with a devotions from Rev. Ben Spalink based on 1 Corinthians 9, encouraging church leaders to do all in their power not to hinder the cause of Christ’s gospel.
New members were appointed to the Classical Interim Committee, the group which conducts the business of classis in between meetings. Rev. Albert Sideco was appointed to chair this committee. A number of administrative matters were also attended to during the day.
Classis heard updates on new church plants in Washington, DC and a proposed new church plant in North Carolina.
Faith Community CRC rejoices in the acceptance of a call issued to Rev. K.C. Vande Streek to serve as their new pastor. They hope to celebrate his installation in a special worship service on February 24.
Elders Peter Hagedoorn (Sussex) and Natalie Beattie (Crossroads), as well as Pastors Joseph Byun (East West Church of NY) and Mary Stegink (Ridgewood) were delegated to represent Classis Hudson at Synod 2013.
An overture was adopted urging Synod 2013 to withhold action on some of the church order changes proposed in the Office of Deacon Task Force report.
The classis meeting was closed with devotions from Rev. Albert Sideco, based on Joshua 1:1-8 and encouraging delegates to remember the strength that God gives for service in His kingdom.
