The diaconal task force of Classis Hudson, Northeast Community Transformation, is hosting a forum called "Working With Our Communities for the Common Good." The forum is being held on Monday, January 28, from 7-9 pm at Bridgeway Community Church in Haledon, NJ. Councils of churches in Classis Hudson are reminded that the deadline for submitting Paramus Fund grant requests for the coming year is December 1, 2012. Application forms may be found here.The Paramus Fund was created in 1980 from the remaining assets of the former Paramus Christian Reformed Church, which closed in 1976. The Fund provides grants each year for “ministry and church programs” within the congregations of Classis Hudson. It is administered by the Classical Interim Committee and the Treasurer.
Northeast Community Transformation (NECT), the diaconal ministry of Classis Hudson, and partner Mercy Vision will co-sponsor a conference on “The Good Deeds of The Gospel” featuring Dr. Ron Sider, noted author, speaker and founder of Evangelicals for Social Action.The event will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church (422 Cedar Hill Ave, Wyckoff).Dr. Sider will lead two plenary sessions articulating the application of the Gospel to ministries of community development and justice. There will be several workshops including “Working with Our Communities for the Common Good” led by NECT Director Al Santino.Admission is $15 and is available on-line.Mercy Vision is a coalition of Korean-American churches in northern New Jersey with a mission that aligns with NECT, working together to bring resources for community development ministry.
The CRWRC 50th Anniversary Service scheduled for this Sunday evening has been postponed due to Hurricane Sandy. It will be held on Sunday, November 25 at 6:00 p.m. with ethnic snacks and Paterson’s famous Guernsey Crest Ice Cream at 5:00 p.m. at Covenant CRC.Andy Ryskamp, the US Director of CRWRC/World Renew, will be with us and there will be an update on our response to the Hurricane.Please continue to pray for and serve our neighbors as you are able.
