Fall clergy day at Christian Health Care Center

The Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff, NJ is offering a seminar entitled “Recognizing, Understanding, Coping with, and Surviving the Borderline Personalities in your Congregation” as part of their fall Clergy Day on Wednesday, November 7, 2012.  Rev. Carol Schweitzer, PH.D. from Union Presbyterian Seminary, will be the presenter.  There is no cost, but an RSVP is requested by October 29.For more information and information about how to RSVP, please see the flyer.

CRWRC 50th anniversary service

World Renew (formerly CRWRC), in conjunction with the council of Faith Community CRC in Wyckoff, invites all friends of CRWRC to celebrate the 50th anniversary of that organization at a special event to be held at Faith Church (530 Sicomac Ave, Wyckoff) on Sunday, November 4.  There will be a time of fellowship, ice cream, and global desserts to be held in the Barn beginning at 5pm, with a worship service to follow at 6 pm.  Mr. Andy Ryskamp, the director of World Renew, will be speaking and showing some videos celebrating what God has done.Children are encouraged to come with their families to this celebration. We anticipate a dynamic time of worship, prayer, reflection and looking ahead to what the Lord has done and will be doing through CRWRC.

Christian Reformed Home Missions leadership workshop

The Regional Team of Christian Reformed Home Missions is hosting a workshop on November 14-15, 2012, at New Song Community Church in New York City.  This informative and mutually beneficial workshop will help us intentionally learn from one another how to develop leaders locally, ensuring that current and future leaders of the church are identified, empowered, and nurtured.  We look forward to learning from one another about how to build and support strong leaders . . . all for the sake of God’s redemptive mission in our hurting world.Please join us!  For the Wednesday evening session, we will be honored to hear New England Chapel Church Planter and Pastor, Chris Mitchell, give a plenary talk about the importance of leadership development.  On Thursday, we will hear from respected colleagues who will present case studies about this subject each in their own unique context.  We will also have a panel of young pastors share how internships in churches have helped them to grow and develop in their passion for the lost.  Valuable resources will be shared from both an academic and an experiential perspective.The cost for this event is $35.  For more information or to learn how to register, see the flyer.

Pastoral colloquium upcoming

The Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff, NJ invites local clergy members to participate in the next Pastoral Colloquium.  These events are are designed to offer topics in a presentation/discussion format.  The program is an hour and a half in length,  requiring a shorter commitment of time than Clergy Days.  The next Pastoral Colloquium will be offered on Thursday, September 27, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.Details about the event and how to RSVP are available on the flyer which can be found here.

Agenda for fall classis meeting

Classis Hudson will meet in regular session on Monday and Tuesday, September 17-18, at Restore Church in North Haledon.  The agenda can be found here.  In keeping with an annual custom, part of the meeting will be held jointly with delegates from Classis Hackensack to receive reports from denominational representatives and discuss matters where our ministries overlap.One important part of this meeting will be a discussion with Rev. Howard Vanderwell, a representative of the CRC's Faith Formation Committee, who will be addressing the topic "Making Adjustments for a New Culture of Faith Formation in the CRC."  All interested CRC members are encouraged to attend the Monday evening session for a discussion of this important subject.
